This month’s training will be Captain’s choice.  Dana reported Engine Company will be running the boat.

A Training Committee needs to be put together with one member from each Company and Toby asked John or Milt to head it up.

DFS called to say they can do a rope rescue training here in October.  The schedule would be October 14th 4:00 to 11:00 pm and October 15th and October 16th, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  They will need to choose a site from the three sites we pick to do the practicals.

BOARD OF FIRE ENGINEERS

Chief Toby Tyler He has recount petitions for the ambulance, and the highway sanders, if anyone would like to sign them.

With respect to the call at 6 Mill Street, the owner has contacted an electrician to make it impossible for the tenants to shut off the circuit breaker.

Deputy Chief Rose – A fund raiser for Kathy Harris will be held at the VFW on July 15th from 7:00 pm to midnight.

He will check the status of the brush gear when he goes to Bergeron’s on Friday.

ENGINE COMPANY:  Dana feels Engine 5 is ready to go mutual aid.

He asked about buying an oil catch pan for Rescue.  The cost is about $17.

He asked about equipment for the new officers and Toby advised the selectmen need to advise how we will pay for it since it was not budgeted.

He reported the Jaws were used for the extrication class and there were no issues.  The instructor does not recommend putting the Holmatro covers over the steering wheels.  Our SOG says to use them.

With Jonathan’s resignation, he asked if car numbers will be changing.  Since the position has not been filled by the Selectmen, Toby would like to keep the numbers as they are.  Dana would like Ben and Kurtis to be P1 and P2.

He feels Rescue and Forestry 1 should go to a call for a horse rescue.

Firefighters will be reminded not to use the Jaffrey valve as a step.

The Fourth of July detail went smoothly.

He reported he will be on vacation July 11th through July 14th.

Seth reported he was called out on an illegal burn at 23 Prospect Street.  The owner was burning in an outside fireplace located over the hill and apparently does so frequently.  Toby advised the fire had to be put out if they were not cooking food.

HOOK & LADDER COMPANY:  He gave Matt’s pants to Willy Brooks to use at the live burn.

Ladder Company will be at the crank-up this Sunday.

Paul reported his wife is due at anytime and once the baby is here, he will be out for a while.

COMBINATION COMPANY:  Mike asked if it is okay for his company to pay to do a live burn at the Nashua Smoke House and Toby said yes.

He asked about the equipment for Engine 5 and was told some of it has been ordered.

He asked about the old Engine 5 and was advised it went to Honduras.

He needs a Christmas Tree key.

Jonathan’s pants deteriorated after being washed following the Groton fire.  Dana is working with the insurance company to have them pay for the pairs that were ruined.

EMS COMPANY REPORT:  Ben asked if it possible to change the uniform policy for the summer and allow the fulltime EMS personnel to wear shorts.  He said they work long hours and it gets very hot working outside, especially when they are alone, in long pants and dark shirts.  Toby is not in support of this since he is concerned they would be at risk of an exposure when they went to a call.  Ben said they have a gown in the ambulance and they could also put on bunker pants.  Mike asked how many people show up to a call in shorts.  Toby said no one is supposed to be wearing shorts to a call.

Ben suggested Dispatch announce the EMT’s who are on call when doing the tone test since some of them forget and they do not carry the schedule with them.  He feels others would respond when they hear no one is on call.

STATUS OF EQUIPMENT:

Mike D. asked if the pack tracker can be mounted in Engine 6 and a new one ordered for Engine 5.  The cost is about $1400.

Mike B. advised he needs a battery for his CO detector.

Engine 1 is OOS and at the Highway garage getting the brakes on the passenger side fixed.  Dana reported the AC is not working.

The shoreline plug cover needs to be ordered for the Tanker.

The ladder will be tested.
